Ballad: SCARY TEACHER

You hear the footsteps of her heels,

The room is loud with screams and squeals,

Suddenly, the class is hushed,

A gush of wind is rapidly rushed,

Into the silent, eerie atmosphere,

Of faces showing great, shocking fear.

Finally the shark reacts,

And breaks the egg in a violent crack,

Get out your homework or I’ll whip you butts!

The shoal of fish is separated in a bold cut.

Now the lesson of doom has begun,

So will the torturing to be done,

For there is no place for you to run,

One daring try and the devil comes,

And you will never, ever experience a moment of fun.

The sound of yells, slaps and cracks of whips,

Can be heard even over the sound of an ongoing clip,

But thankfully the clock is there,

To save everyone from their despair,

And as a sharp, deafening buzz is announced,

No one fears their predator no more,

Ignoring the sound of her terrible roar,

Escaping from the horrifying creature,

Just that one and only, scary teacher.

The Other Side of Truth-PEEC Paragraph

Sade feels bad about hiding the truth because she is starting to feel guilty when some people in London have been trying their best to help her and Femi. Evidence of this is when she thinks about people becoming refugees (p78). She then wonders if telling a lie is what's right for her to do. Yet, if she tells the truth, that means putting her papa in danger. At the moment, Sade feels a little guilty since she is not telling the complete truth when people are being nice to them and yet, she has no choice. Sade is stuck in a situation where she has to decide whether telling the truth will bring the best outcome or just make everything worse ad put her papa in danger.

Angel Guardian

Silence and peace. The angel stood there like a beautiful, glowing statue. The sun was shining on her as if she owned the spotlight. Amazingly, the clouds she stood on with her bare feet were solid and as soft as a fairy floss. There were no other angels around her as Alicia closed her eyes and breathed in the fresh air, preparing to depart Heaven for the underworld. Everyone else was still asleep in their light, floating, feather beds when the angel awoke to commence her important mission. The enormous, magical pair of wings spread out widely off Alicia's back and gracefully, she lifted her arms, slowly raised her foot in mid air...and let herself fall forward.

Fable-Do Not Just Follow the Crowd

One day at school, as Janet walked to her locker in the hall way, she saw Sarah, the most prettiest and popluar girl in the school with her group of friends. They were being surrounded with boys again. She continued on walking but suddenly, she caught a glimpse of her crush, Jake, standing right next to Sarah, laughing and smiling at her! Janet was so heart broken and since that day on, she made a decision.

The next morning, Janet walked to school in high heels, a cute mini skirt, a sleeveless pink top with heavy make-up on her face. She was hoping that her crush would take notice of her and ask her out sometime but instead of attracting Jake to her, more and more boys started to crowd around her as she walked inside her classroom. In the end of the day, Janet didn't get a chance to talk to her crush. In fact, this went on for a week and during those days, she also became friends with Sarah. Her old friends were being dumped and since then and Janet didn't sit with them anymore but she didn't care at all. Janet became meaner and more popular as each day went past.

Finally, one rainy day, Janet managed to meet upon Jake and chat with him for a bit before class started. Yes...this is my chance, thought the girl. Before the bell rang, Janet confessed to Jake that she liked him a lot and she knew that he would definetely say he would go out with her but she was wrong. "I'm sorry Janet but to be honest, I used to have a crush on you too but these days, you just suddenly changed into a different person...I guess I liked the old you better...I'm sorry ," Jake said timidly. Janet was shocked at hearing this and with her head bent down, she returned back to her desk.

During the weekends, Janet thought about all the foolish things she had done just to attract her cruch. She learnt that being herself was the best way to keep things going smoothly in her life and on Monday, she changed back to her old self and eventually made up with her old friends again with her normal school life.

Moral: Be true to yourself and don't just follow the crowd.

Analysis on a Simile Poem-The Snake

Subject Matter-
The poem is called 'The Snake' and it was written by Sharon Jamaica.

Purpose or Theme-
The poet wants to decribe the appearance of a snake, how a snake would move and what a snake would be like.

Emotion or Mood-
This poem is like a story. It has a beginning, climax (middle) and an ending. In the first stanza, Sharon describes the snake slowly approaching and then it joins to the second stanza when the snake starts to move actively. Finally in the last verse, the poem goes back to a peaceful feeling. For eg. at first, the snake is only just uncoiling and getting ready to strike. Then it starts to move actively through the grass and finally, the poet describes the snake like a newborn sheep and like a river flowing.

Techniques-
Sharon had gave people an imagery about the poem and in the first verse, the first two sentences rhyme but those are the only parts where it rhynes. In every stanza there are similes being used. In the first stanza- Its tongue sticking out, like and arrow read to strike. Second verse- Make its freckled and glistening skin look like silk. Last verse- Just staring like newborn sheep and like a river flowing. Using these similes, Sharon gives readers a clearer image of the snake.

Summary-
This poem is just like a very short story about a snake. Sharon had gave people a clear image about the snake and using good adjectives is even better for people to understand what the snake would be like. The poet had achieved her prupose by using techniques to write this poem for people to easily get the message.

Book Review-Forever Angels

The book I am currently reading is called Forever Angels and it is written by Suzanne Weyn. So far, the book is pretty good but I still have quite a lot of chapters to read. The main characters are Ashely and her best friend, Christina. This story is about Ashley falling in love with two guys. One is a kind and cute boy called Dar and the other one is a geeky, shy boy called Jason. Although the two boys have a huge difference, Ashley is interested in them for different reasons. Since I haven't read much about the book, I only know that Ashley and Christina can see angels and they were protecting Jason in secret. A secret is about to reveal but I haven't read up to that part yet. The book is mostly about romance and to me, I enjoy it pretty much.
